New Delhi: Rio Olympic silver-medallist PV Sindhu was showered with wishes on social media after she overcame her Rio Games conqueror Carolina Marin of Spain in straight games to win the India Open Super Series badminton title on Sunday.

The star Indian shuttler took avenge of her Rio Olympics final defeat by sweeping aside Marin 21-19, 21-16 in the summit showdown of the Indian Open that lasted 47 minutes at a packed Siri Fort Sports Complex here in the national capital. From Sachin Tendulkar to Amitabh Bachchan, celebrities sent their congratulatory messages to the shuttler for her maiden India Open Super Series title.

"Champion moves & a warrior instinct! A true winner all the way. @Pvsindhu1, take a bow. #SindhuvsMarin," tweeted the Master Blaster.

"T 2482 - @pvsindhu1 wins #IndiaSS title ..HUGE congratulations ! Sweet revenge, after the Olympic loss .. but this one more convincing !!," tweeted the Big B.

"Super performance by @Pvsindhu1. Congratulations and thanks for making us proud," wrote SRK.

"Congratulation @Pvsindhu1. You are precious. Jai hind...," tweeted Mary Kom.

"What a way to settle scores! Take a bow you champion @Pvsindhu1 #SindhuvsMarin," wrote Sunil Chhetri. Amidst the euphoria of winning the title, Sindhu also made a slight goof-up when she replied thank you to PM Narendra Modi's parady account.

"Moment of pride again ! Congratulations to India and @Pvsindhu1 on becoming the #IndiaOpen2017 champion! #SindhuvsMarin," the tweet from PM Modi's parody account read.

"Thanks a lot sir," replied the India's champion shuttler.

The win gave Sindhu her first India Open title and second Superseries title after the China Open last year.
