New Delhi: Superstar Aamir Khan made history with sports biopic 'Dangal', a film which talks about a father's journey into making his daughters champions. The film by Nitesh Tiwari not only went down to get a rousing response in the country but 'Dangal' created a stir across the globe.

A few days back it was being reported that this Aamir Khan starrer has minted Rs 2000 crore globally and has broken many records. Now the twist in the tale is that it's not the truth.

According to Indian Express.com, Dangal's spokesperson has clarified and revealed the exact figures collected by the venture at the box office. The report quotes the spokesperson as saying, “We have been reading a lot of reports saying that Dangal has crossed 2000 cr worldwide. Just to set the record straight, we want to clarify that Dangal’s official worldwide gross collection figure as of Thursday  is 1864 crores. We are very happy that our film has been so successful, and what is of most value for Aamir Khan and the entire team of Dangal is the immense love the film has got from the audience across the globe. We are looking forward for the film to release in other untapped territories to reach more audience.”

'Dangal' s a biopic based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Geeta and Babita. both Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari went on win laurels for the country. The former became India's first female wrestler to win at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. She won the gold medal in 55 kg while her sister Babita Kumari won the silver medal in 51 kg.
