After Padmaavat, Sanjay Leela Bhansali to revive ambitious project Heera Mandi?

New Delhi: Ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is basking in the success of his last hit 'Padmaavat', is all set to revivew his ambitious project 'Heera Mandi'. As per souces that film is still in the final stages of the writing process.

The film has been in making since quite some time. However, due to certain reasons, the film got shelved and Bhansali got busy with other projects.

Names of several leading actresses like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Sonam Kapoor among others have been associated with the projects till now. In fact, in March this year, it was reported that Bhansali was considering to cast Priyanka in the lead role in the film.

'Heera Mandi' incidentally is a renowned red light area in the Walled City of Lahore that had spawned the courtesan culture during the Mughal Era but is now the hub of prostitution. The film was supposed to have an ensemble cast.

As per Pinkvilla, 'Heera Mandi' script was adopted from Mayank Austen Soofi's 'A Sudden Visit To Pakistan: Heera Mandi The Dream Home Of The Whores", which Bhansali bought the rights to back in 2007. The book chronicles the life of a prostitute and gives a hard-hitting account of life in a brothel.

Veteran actresses Rekha, Madhuri Dixit and Shaban Azmi have also been associated with the projects.

Well, it seems like once rumoured to be shelved, 'Heera Mandi' will finally see the light of the day!
