New Delhi: The controversy surrounding upcoming magnum opus Padmavati by Sanjay Leela Bhansali has taken a new turn as the filmmaker has reportedly agreed to screen the film before Special Committee ahead of its big release on December 1, 2017.

According to Mid-Day.com, the Mumbai cops held as many as 15 protestors of Akhand Rajputana Seva Sangh, outside Bhansali's Juhu office on November 12, 2017. These members were demanding the film be shown to them ahead of its release and also before it goes to the Censor Board for certification.

The Mid-Day report claims that the director has finally decided to take the big step and screen Padmavati special committee. The report quotes RP Singh, national president of Akhand Rajputana Seva Sangh, as saying, “I got a call from Mahavir Jain, who is the mediator between Bhansali and the Rajput Sanghatan, on Saturday night. He put me on a conference call with Shobha Sant [CEO, Bhansali Productions]. She told me that they were ready to show the movie to a team before release. The screening will be held sometime between November 15 to 18."

Padmavati stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles. On previous occasions too the film faced severe opposition from fringe groups protesting a ban on the venture as they felt the filmmaker has distorted historical facts.

Deepika will be seen playing Rani Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Singh while Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji respectively.
