Why Beyonce named her baby ‘Blue Ivy Carter’

New York: Beyonce and Jay-Z’s unconventional choice of baby name has caused many to wonder if there is some significance behind the name ‘Blue Ivy Carter’.

While the two singers haven’t explained their choice publicly, the first and the middle name do appear to carry some meaning for the couple. Jay-Z’s three ‘Blueprint’ albums are rap classics, and he rhymed that his “favorite hue is Jay-Z Blue”, in Young Jeezy’s 2005 song ‘Go Crazy’. Ivy, meanwhile, is rumored to be a play on IV, the Roman numeral for the couple’s beloved number four. “We all have special numbers in our lives, and four is that for me,” the New York Daily News quoted Beyonce as telling Billboard last year. Her latest studio album was titled ‘4’, her birthday is September 4, Jay-Z’s birthday is December 4 and the couple wed in a private ceremony on April 4, 2008. ANI
