New Delhi: Did you know that the Indian Railways offers various concessions to people for various requirements? From chronic ailment patients to serious diseases, students, job interviews, senior citizens –there are a host of concessions that people can apply for.

Below is the list of various concessions that one can be eligible for. Check out the list.

For Cancer patients

75 percent concession for cancer patients on 1st, 2nd class and AC chair car.

100 percent concession on 3AC, and sleeper class

50 percent on 1AC and 2AC

Attendants can also avail this concession. 75 percent only on 3AC and sleeper class.

For Heart, Kidney and Thalassemia pateints

Applicable to patients who are on dialysis or are travelling for heart surgery or kidney transplant

75 percent concession for 1st, 2nd sleeper class, 3AC and chair car. Attendants can also avail the same concession.

Patients of Hemophilia

75 percent concession for hemophilia patent as well as their attendants on 2nd, sleeper, 1st class, 3AC and chair car.

Tuberculosis and Lupus Vulgaris

75 percent concession on 1st, 2nd and sleeper class for patients as well as attendants.

Non-infectious leprosy patients

75 percent concession on 1st, 2nd and sleeper class for patients as well as attendants.

AIDS Patients and their attendants, travelling for treatment at nominated ART centres can get 50 percent concession on 2nd class.

Ostomy patients, travelling for any reason can get 50 percent concession on monthly and quarterly season ticket.

Senior Citizens

Male above 60 years of age and more can avail 40 percent concession on all class.

Female above 58 years of age and more can avail 50 percent concession on all class.

This concession can also be availed on Rajdhani, Shatabdi, JanShatabdi and Duronto Trains.

War Widows

War widows, IPKF personnels killed in Sri Lanka, policemen who have died during combatting terrorist attacks, para-military personnel, defense personnels, widow of defense person who were martyred during Kargil operation Vijay can avail 75 percent concession on 2nd and sleeper class.

For Students: Education tour

General category

50 percent on 2nd and sleeper class

50 percent on monthly and quarterly season ticket

SC and ST category

75 percent on 2nd and sleeper class

75 percent on monthly and quarterly season ticket

Girl Students till graduation level and boy student till 12th grade (including Mararsa students) can avail free 2nd class monthly season ticket.

Study Tour for students of rural government school once a year, girls government school of rural area, entrance exam for national level medical and engineering  school can get 75 percent concession.

UPSC and SSC candidates apprearing for main written exams can get 50 percent concession on 2nd class

Foreign Students travelling for Camps and seminars organised by government, historical places can get 50 percent concession on 2nd and sleeper class.

Unemployed Youth can get 50 percent concession for appearing in interviews of municipal corporation, government undertaking university, public sector body.

Job Interview for central and state government: 100 percent concession on 2nd class and 50 percent concession on sleeper class.

For Medical Professionals

Allopathic doctors can avail 10 percent concession on all class, Rajdhani, shatabdi and janshatabdi trains.

Nurse and Midwives can get 25 percent concession on 2nd and sleeper class during official travel as well as vacations.
