Mumbai: Veejay-turned-actor Ayushmann Khurrana is making his big screen debut with the unconventional film `Vicky Donor`, a film about sperm donation and, says it is safer to work in such movies.
"I think it`s always good to sign a film which is unconventional. This is the time and age when we talk about unconventional films and do out-of-the-box stuff. So it is safe to choose such a project," the 27-year-old said here at the Couture for Cause event.
When asked him to explain the film`s story, Ayushmann described it in his VJ-like interesting manner and said: "Every sperm is special. For example, M.S. Dhoni is a Bihari sperm, Dhanush is a `Kolaveri` sperm, Suresh Kalmadi is a corrupt sperm, and Vijay Mallya right now is a bankrupt sperm. It goes like that.
"Apart from that there is a similarity between Rahul Dravid and Rahul Gandhi`s sperms - both take time to score. Right now, Sachin Tendulkar is a tired sperm but Dravid is a retired sperm. So every sperm is special and `Vicky Donor` is about this."
"Vicky Donor" is John`s first film as a producer and it also stars veteran actor Annu Kapoor and TV actress Yami Gautam, known for shows like "Chaand Ke Paar Chalo" and "Ye Pyaar Na Hoga Kam".
Ayushmann is confident that the film`s promotional video, to be shot soon with John, will help the movie.
"Of course, we are gonna be a part of it. We will be shooting it pretty soon. The producer is a known figure in the industry, so it will really help," said Ayushmann who began his showbiz career as a contestant on MTV`s reality show "Roadies" season 2.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the film is releasing April 20.
