Kazakhstan bans anti-Islam film

Astana: A Kazakh court Thursday ruled that the anti-Islam US film ‘Innocence of Muslims’ was extremist and issued a nationwide ban on its distribution, Judge Kuanysh Zhaksybergenov said.

The Kazakh prosecutor`s office initiated proceedings Sep 21, calling for a ban on the film`s import, duplication and distribution in Kazakhstan on religious hatred and extremism grounds. Mobile network operators have agreed to carry out the court`s instructions. The 14-minute video ignited violent protests in Benghazi, Libya, and led to the death of US ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans Sep 11.
