Half of Brit women carry sexy undies in their handbag

43 per cent of women in Britain carry a pair of sexy knickers in their handbags to change into, if a date goes better than planned.

London: An astonishing 43 per cent of women in Britain carry a pair of sexy knickers in their handbags to change into, if a date goes better than planned, according to a new survey.
It seems these women are taking precautions to make sure they don’t face the same embarrassment like Renee Zellweger’s character Bridget Jones, whose granny knickers were exposed during a steamy date.
Many women choose Bridget-style sculpting underwear for special occasions - or even for every day wear - but 60 per cent of them would never admit it, even to long-term partners, revealed a survey conducted by supermarket chain Sainsbury’s. The good news is that forty per cent of men questioned in the same survey said that they would not blink an eyelid if their date was wearing Shapewear. The survey of 2,500 adults also revealed surprising statistics about the kind of underwear women buy depending on their size. It found that slim, size 8 women are most likely to wear sensible cotton pants while size 16s prefer sexier matching sets. Meanwhile size 14 women are the most likely to wear a suspender belt or to sometimes not even bother with underwear at all, the Daily Mail reported. According to the survey, more than half of all British women will select special underwear for a Valentine’s date, and a third of the nation’s women will even invest in new lingerie for the occasion. “This survey really highlights that women are embracing their curves and feeling confident about their figures,” said Toni-Ann Lindsay, TU at Sainsbury’s Lingerie Buyer. “You might expect classic model-sized ladies to be more confident and adventurous. However it seems that the curvier ladies are more likely to choose sexier and chic underwear this Valentine’s Day. “We’ve seen a big uplift in women buying more fashion forward underwear this year, and sales are already up by a quarter this week [compared to the same period last year], indicating that they’re embracing new looks. “A key trend looking ahead to summer is paler pastel colours with once popular black fazlling by the way side,” Lindsay added.
