New York: Actor Billy Crystal has hosted a special screening of his new family comedy `Parental Guidance` in his New York hometown because he wanted to help get the area back up on its feet in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy.
The `When Harry Met Sally` star gave residents of Long Beach, which was hard hit by the disaster in October, reported the New York Daily News.
"It was very emotional. I was born in New York City, lived in the Bronx for three or four years, but Long Beach was my hometown. It was like seeing somebody you love get beaten up, so I had this idea. "The theatre is demolished but the city of Lynbrook opened its arms and we had 2,500 people come on buses to the theatre there. It was really something. I haven`t lived in Long Beach since 1976, but in a way, I never left. I`ll do whatever I can to help that town back up on its feet," he said. The film also stars Bette Midler, Marisa Tomei and Tom Everett Scott and directed by Andy Fickman. PTI
