New Delhi: Cab companies here on Friday said they have accepted the Delhi government's request to not effect surge pricing for successful implementation of the odd-even scheme, which will be enforced in the city from November 13 to 17.
In a meeting, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot spoke to the cab service providers regarding the issue, a government official said.
Cab companies Ola and Wagon Cab welcomed the traffic rationing scheme and accepted the minister's request.
Ola in a statement said: "The current levels of pollution and resultant smog in the national capital are worrisome and it is imperative that we join hands with the government in their efforts to curb this situation."
"We have suspended peak pricing in Delhi. We are slashing prices on Ola Share (facility that helps travellers save cost by sharing it with other Ola users), to be made available starting Rs 35, to encourage adoption of shared rides," Ola said.
The company also stated that it was planning to launch several shared mobility innovations to make mobility in the city more accessible and hassle-free, reducing the negative impact on the environment.
Wagon Cab said: "We welcome the government's decision of implementing the odd and even rule to deal with the current environment situation."
The company also said to have added 1,000 more cabs for commuters to travel without having a burden of hidden charges.
"These cabs would be available near business parks, shopping complex, airports and railway stations," the statement said.
Another cab service provider Uber on Thursday said it would not levy dynamic or surge pricing during the odd-even scheme.
Under the scheme, private vehicles with odd registration numbers would be allowed on odd dates and those with even numbers on even dates between 8 a.m and 8 p.m, and here would be no restrictions on weekends and public holidays.
