New Delhi: Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane, who made her Bollywood debut this year, has stepped forward to condemn terror attacks. The 24-year-old star recently took to Twitter to express her emotions.
The 'Sanam Teri Kasam' diva said that we must realise the value of lost lives. She also urged people to stand united against terrorism. Her tweet has come when Pak artistes are facing a strong backlash from many Indian groups and political parties.
Following the Uri terror attack, MNS had asked Pakistani artistes like Fawad and Mahira Khan to leave India, failing which it had threatened to stall their film shoots.MNS also demanded a ban on Pakistani artistes working in the Indian film industry.
A while back, singer Shafqat Amanat Ali also critised Uri terror attack.
Shafqat, whose concert in Benguluru was scrapped last month after the terror strike, told a news channel, “It is a terror attack and I condemn it, I strongly condemn it.”
When asked why other Pakistani artistes haven’t condemned the attack, the singer said, “As far as I know, Pakistani actors condemn any kind of attack which happens in any part of the world which is against any country because we have been suffering for so many years. We know how it feels when your soldier or civilian dies. So, I don’t think any of them would say this (Uri) was right.”
Sadly, no other Pak star has spoken about the Uri terror attack.
Last week, the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association too decided to ban Pakistani artistes from working in Indian movies.
Bollywood has been divided on the issue. Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Hansal Mehta, Om Puri and Nagesh Kukunoor are among those who have opposed the ban while celebrities like Randeep Hooda, Sonali Bendre have backed it.
