Elizabeth Banks to play villain in 'Power Rangers'

'Power Rangers' has officially found its main villain in actress Elizabeth Banks.

Los Angeles: 'Power Rangers' has officially found its main baddie in actress Elizabeth Banks. The 'Pitch Perfect 2' director is confirmed to play the villainous role of Rita Repulsa, an alien witch who comes to Earth in order to rule the planet, reported Ace Showbiz.

Banks confirmed the casting herself on Twitter, writing, "After 10,000 years, I'm free! It's time to conquer Earth. Time to play #RitaRepulsa #PowerRangersMovie."

Directed by Dean Israelite, the movie is due March 24, 2017. It follows a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world.

The colour-coded heroes are played by Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, Becky G, Ludi Lin, and RJ Cyler.
