New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday allowed the television premiere of Hindi film "Grand Masti" while cautioning TV channels to be "in strict compliance" with the requirement of the provisions of the Cinematograph Act.

A division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath vacated the stay on the TV telecast of the movie, noting that film has already been telecast thrice.

"We make it clear that the exhibition of the film in question in any of the channels of the television shall be in strict compliance with the requirement of the endorsement of a caution in terms of provisions of the Cinematograph Act, 1952," they said.

The court in August had stay the TV telecast of the movie holding that it was not certified for unrestricted public exhibition.

The court was hearing a plea filed by Edara Gopi Chand, through advocate Gaurav Bansal seeking quashing of the U/A certification given to "Grand Masti" starring Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani, saying it is an adult comedy.

Seeking stay on the telecast, the plea contended that Indra Kumar directed film was replete with double meaning dialogues and highly objectionable content.

Its TV telecast will adversely affect the rights and interest of hundreds of thousands of minors in the country, especially children and adolescents, the plea has added.
