New Delhi: International Cloud Atlas, the global reference book for identifying and observing clouds has officially recognised twelve new types of cloud including the rare wave-like 'asperitas' for the first time.

Reportedly, apart from the 'famed' asperitas, the new entrants in the list include contrails and the roll-like volutus, formed from the vapour trail of airplanes.

The atlas which belongs to the 19th century features the asperitas cloud in its brand new digital edition.

As per a report published in BBC, the rare wave-like asperitas looks like the tossing of the waves at sea when viewed from below and the atlas has taken a leap since this newest addition.

If reports are to be believed, the new atlas will be available as a web portal for the first time for free public access.
