Mumbai: Sonam Kapoor, who has graced the cover of Cosmopolitan India March issue, spoke about feminism like never before.

The Neerja actress, who has always been very vocal about her opinions said, “I’ve always just voiced my opinions. I said I was a feminist at 21. And it wasn’t cool to be a feminist then, like it’s ‘cool’ to be a feminist now,” during an interview with the magazine and we aren’t surprised for sure.

We recently saw Sonam in R Balki’s Akshay Kumar starrer Padman in which she played a pivotal role. The film inspired by social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham highlighted the importance of menstrual hygiene.

Daughter of veteran actor Anil Kapoor, Sonam has always voiced her opinions.

Sonam believes that gender equality is a human issue. Sonam recently retweeted a post by the Senate of Canada. It pointed out how Canada's Senate has stood for making the country's national anthem gender-neutral by deleting the word "sons" and changing it for "us".

Applauding this, the Neerja actress tweeted: “Gender Equality is a human issue and we're entitled to have equal rights. Glad to see Canada taking the lead on this.”

Sonam also believes that education will empower women.

"When we educate girls about their bodies and its changes, we empower them to not only take care of themselves but also feel more confident in doing so. When we embolden the youth of our communities, we create a positive change for the future," Sonam said in a statement at an event presented by PVR Nest and Mumbai Obstetrics & Gynaecological Society in January.
