'Congress Will Pay For Insulting Women': BJP On Supriya Shrinate's Objectionable Post On Kangana Ranaut

New Delhi / Mandi: Continuing its attack on Supriya Shrinate, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday warned that it will take legal action against the Congress leader for her "objectionable post" concerning Kangana Ranaut, the saffron party's candidate from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi Lok Sabha constituency.

Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jairam Thakur condemned the alleged actions of Shrinate, asserting that the Congress party would face consequences for what he described as 'insulting women''. Thakur emphasized the BJP's commitment to taking legal measures in response to the incident. "...BJP is working towards taking legal action in this matter. It has become the Congress' habit to insult women- 'Matru Shakti'. The whole of Mandi and Himachal Pradesh is angry. Congress will have to pay for this," Thakur was quoted as saying by ANI.

Shrinate's Clarification Amid BJP's Attack

Shrinate has refuted the accusations, clarifying that her social media accounts were compromised, leading to the dissemination of the contentious post. She asserted that the post in question originated from a parody account and has reported the matter to relevant authorities.

BJP's All-Out Condemnation

Earlier, senior BJP figures, including Shehzad Poonawalla and Amit Malviya, have condemned Shrinate's alleged remarks, labelling them as despicable. Poonawalla called for immediate action against Shrinate, urging the Congress leadership to address the issue promptly.  "These are the people who talk about 'Mohabbat', but sometimes they abuse the Prime Minister, they abuse Prime Minister's late mother. They make all kinds of derogatory comments about Shakti, they want to eliminate Sanatana. First, they attacked Shakti, and now Karnataka Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi is attacking Yuva Shakti and now they have attacked Nari Shakti. Spokesperson of Congress, Supriya Shrinate has made disgusting comment and poster on Kangana Ranutji who has been given a Lok Sabha ticket from Mandi," he said.

Malviya echoed similar sentiments, urging Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to take decisive action against Shrinate for her purported comments.

Shazia Ilmi Questions Congress' Silence

BJP's Shazia Ilmi and the National Commission for Women (NCW) have demanded accountability from the Congress leadership regarding Shrinate's conduct. Ilmi criticized the silence of Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi on the matter, highlighting the need for decisive action.

NCW Seels Action Against Shrinate

Meanwhile, the NCW has registered a complaint against Shrinate with the Election Commissioner, denouncing her actions as disrespectful towards women. In a post on X, the NCW informed that such an act by the Congress leader is intolerable and goes against the dignity of women.

"The National Commission for Women is appalled by the disgraceful conduct of Supriya Shrinate and HS Ahir, who made lewd and derogatory remarks about Kangana Ranaut on social media. Such behaviour is intolerable and goes against the dignity of women. Rekha Sharma (Chairperson of NCW) has sent a letter to the Election Commissioner of India demanding an immediate and strict action against them. Let's uphold respect and dignity for all women," it said.

Rashid Alvi Calls For Investigation

Shrinate has defended herself, asserting that her accounts were compromised, leading to the dissemination of objectionable content. She emphasized her commitment to respectful discourse and distanced herself from derogatory remarks. On the other hand, Congress leader Rashid Alvi has called for a thorough investigation into the matter, urging the government to identify the perpetrators behind the alleged comments.
