Delhi Heads To Assembly Polls Today With 15.5 Million Voters

Delhi Election 2025: Delhi is witnessing assembly polls, which will take place across its 70 constituencies started at 7 AM on Wednesday, February 5. Nearly 15.5 million voters in the national capital will cast their ballots in the first electoral battle of 2025 to elect representatives for the 8th Assembly.
The capital will determine the fate of 699 candidates across nearly 13,766 polling stations in what is set to be the most hotly contested assembly election in years.
Delhi Chief Electoral Officer R Alice Vaz urged voters to come out in large numbers and cast their votes.
"On the day of voting, February 5th, I urge all voters in Delhi to come out in large numbers and cast their vote. It is our foremost responsibility as citizens to participate in this democratic process," said CEO R Alice Vaz.
Most of the prominent political leaders including Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi will cast their vote at Nirwan Bhawan around 8.15 am, while, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will cast her vote at Atal School at 11 am. Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devender Yadav going to cast his vote at Govt. Girl Senior Secondary School, Samaipur, Delhi at 10.00 AM, AICC Treasurer Ajay Maken, MP will cast his vote at Sheela Kids School, Rajouri Garden, New Delhi at 9.00 AM.
A paid holiday has been announced for government and private sector employees in Delhi on Wednesday, as polling for 70 assembly seats takes place, officials said, ANI reported.
Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have also declared a paid holiday due to the elections in the national capital.
A total of 97,955 personnel and 8,715 volunteers have been deployed for the elections. Security measures include 220 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), 19,000 Home Guards, and 35,626 Delhi Police officers to ensure peaceful polling.
