New Delhi: The country is all set to celebrate the 78th Independence Day today, Thursday. In the national capital, historical monuments, iconic landmarks, and government buildings were illuminated in the colours of the national flag to honour the freedom movement that culminated in the country’s independence in 1947.

The India Gate, North Block, Samvidhaan Sadan (Old Parliament House), Safdarjung Tomb, and Vikas Minar were illuminated in the tricolour for the patriotic day
Meanwhile, security has also been heightened in the national capital as vehicles are being checked in the wake of Independence Day celebrations.
In Mumbai, numerous buildings and landmarks were also lit up in tricolour on the eve of the 78th Independence Day, showcasing the city’s vibrant spirit and celebration of freedom. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal, Mantralaya Building, SBI Building, Shipping Corporation and the Bandra-Worli sea link were lit up in the tricolour.
