NEW DELHI: Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday (February 22, 2020) hailed Zee News for organising a cultural event like Arth, which he said ''brings India's rich cultural heritage to the forefront.''

Praising Zee News for working in the best interest of the nation and promoting India's culture, the Home Minister said, ''A news channel working towards the upliftment of our culture is laudable.'' The Home Minister made these remarks while participating in the second edition of the three-day-long multi-regional culture festival ‘Arth' in the national capital.

''More events like ‘Arth’ are needed to promote and strengthen India's culture,'' the Home Minister said.

In his brief address, Shah stated that the best way to understand the Indian culture is through its several dialects and languages which are spoken across the country. The Home Minister also urged the countrymen, especially the youths, to preserve and promote India's culture, its diversity, languages and various dialects.

''India is the only geo-cultural country in the world. India has several dialects and languages, probably the maximum in the world. These are a sign of our heritage. I call upon the youth to use their local dialect in their conversations and keep it alive,'' Amit Shah said.

Shah also promised to attend the third edition of Arth cultural festival and said, ''I want to assure you all that I will attend the third edition of Arth festival.''

Arth cultural festival commenced on Friday (February 21, 2020) after Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Chandra inaugurated the event. The Arth festival is being organised with the objective to discover, celebrate, promote and preserve India's culture and its ancient tradition and values.

Prior to Amit Shah, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan addressed the event. Actress Mandira Bedi and Premanka Goswami also took part in the event and voiced their thought about India's tradition and culture.

During the inauguration ceremony, Dr Subhash Chandra welcomed the participants and said that 'Arth' will soon become a platform which the whole world will look at. It will help in reducing the tension and removing the cultural differences among the people.

Founder of 'Earth' Shreyasi Goenka also participated in the event and told Zee News that the foundation of this festival was laid to give a special emphasis on the youth of the country. She said, "The purpose behind this initiative is to connect with our roots in culture, tradition along with history and civilization," adding "It is a dialogue between tradition and modernity. Through this festival, we have been working to connect the society with Indian culture for the past several years."

Punit Goenka (MD & CEO of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd) also took part in the event on Saturday.

The three-day Arth festival, which is being held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi, will conclude on February 23.
