G20 Summit In India: India on Sunday handed over the G20 Presidency to Brazil on the second day of the G20 Summit in New Delhi. In his remarks on the closing ceremony of the 2-day long G20 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India still has the G20 presidency for nearly 2.5 months more and proposed the group leaders hold a virtual session of G20 by the end of November to review the topics decided in the 2-day Summit.

PM Modi handed over the ceremonial gavel of the Group of 20 presidency to Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at the G20 summit. "I congratulate Brazilian President and my friend Lula da Silva and hand over the gavel of Presidency," PM Modi said minutes before the New Delhi G20 Summit concluded.  

The first day of the Summit was conducted successfully on Saturday with New Delhi inviting the African Union as the permanent member of the group at the sprawling Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi's Pragati Maidan for the 18th G20 Summit.

The two-day G20 summit kicked off today at the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi where Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the world leaders. Notably, the theme of this year's G20 Summit, which is taking place under India's presidency is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth · One Family · One Future” - is drawn from the ancient Sanskrit text of the Maha Upanishad. Essentially, the theme affirms the value of all life – human, animal, plant, and microorganisms – and their interconnectedness on the planet Earth and in the wider universe.

After the conclusion of the 'One Earth' session, and followed by lunch, another session of 'One Family' would be conducted at 3.00 p.m. as a part of the Summit. The third session of the summit, called 'One Future', will take place on September 10.
