New Delhi: Uttarakhand Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat submitted his resignation to the Governor Baby Rani Maurya on Tuesday (March 9) at Raj Bhawan in Dehradun.

Rawat addressed a press conference after the meeting where he thanked the party leadership for giving him the opportunity to serve the people.

Meanwhile, actor Vijayakanth's DMDK has walked out of the alliance with NDA ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls next month.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Maitri Setu' between India and Bangladesh at 12 noon via video conferencing, the PMO said in a statement. The bridge ‘Maitri Setu' has been built over the Feni river which flows between the Indian boundary in Tripura and Bangladesh. 

Also, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple projects in Tripura, via video conference.

In another update, the Rajya Sabha will now meet on its regular timing of 11 AM to 6 PM from Tuesday (March 9) after Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu accepted the demands of some members for a regular sitting. The House was meeting for five hours from 9 AM to 2 PM since the first part of the Budget Session that started on January 31.

Rajya Sabha witnessed four adjournments -- first around 10.05 am till 11 am and again till 1 pm and then two quick adjournments of 15 minutes each -- before it was adjourned for the day.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is in Nandigram and will hold a 'Padyatra' in protest of the fuel price hike. She also announced that she will file her nomination for the Nandigram Assembly seat on March 10 (Wednesday).

The Delhi court will hear Nikita Jacob, Shantanu Muluk's anticipatory bail plea in Toolkit case today at 2 pm. 

The Anti Corruption Bureau raided CESCom Superintendent Engineer KM Munigopal Raju's house in Mysore, Karnataka on Tuesday (March 8). They found cash, jewellery, expensive watches and gold utensils during their raid.
