Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha Result 2024 LIVE Updates: The wait is over and the counting of votes has surprised the political observers. The BJP-led Mahayuti has swept the polls with a decisive mandate while the Opposition Mahayuti is sturggling to win even 50 seats. The Mahayuti has won 230 seats while the Maha Vikas Aghadi has bagged 48 seats. The Mahayuti is likely to hold its swearing-in ceremony on November 26 as Devendra Fadnavis leads the CM post race. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is already in action and has called all three big leaders of the alliance - Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. The 288 assembly seats voted in single phase on November 20 and the counting of votes is underway. The state has recorded around 66% voting, highest since 1995.

BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP form the ruling Mahayuti Alliance while Congress-NCPSP-Sena UBT are part of the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi. In the assembly 2019 polls, the BJP had bagged 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, NCP 54 and Congress 44 seats. In the 2014 assembly election, the BJP had won 122 seats, Shiv Sena 63, Congress 42 and NCP 41 seats.
In the election touted as make-or-break for the regional satraps, the fate of both factions of Shiv Sena and the NCP are out in the open. Sharad Pawar, his bete noire Ajit Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, his rival Eknath Shinde and other state leaders now know the result of a litmus test they underwent in the last one and half month. The results show that both the rival factions have managed to win over the voters. The 2024 Assembly elections mark a significant shift in Maharashtra’s political landscape, with both the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) entering the fray after internal splits. The Shiv Sena is now divided between factions led by Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray, with the latter steering the Shiv Sena-UBT. Similarly, the NCP is split between Sharad Pawar, who leads the NCP (Sharad Pawar), and Ajit Pawar, heading his faction of the party.
On the BJP-led side, the BJP contested 149 seats, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena 81 seats, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP 59 seats. Meanwhile, the opposition alliance featured the Congress contesting 101 seats, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) 95 seats, and the Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) 86 seats.

Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to hold the Maharashtra Legislative Party meeting on November 25 and the oath-taking ceremony on 26, sources said on Saturday. A larger meeting of the Yuti alliance is also likely to be held around the same time. This comes after the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra crossed the crucial majority mark, as per the Election Commission data around 11 am.
It is securing a lead in 220 seats and is likely heading towards a landslide victory. Celebrations have already begun at the BJP's Mumbai office.

Shiv Sena leader Naresh Mhaske said, "Maharashtra of government has expressed its faith in Mahayuti.The public is seeing what is happening to Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena today. As per the initial results, the Mahayuti alliance is leading in 220 seats, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading in 128 seats, driving the charge in Maharashtra. The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena (SHS) follows closely with 55 seats. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, is leading in 35 seats, while the Rashtriya Yuva Swabhiman Party (RSHYVSWBHM) is leading in 2 seats.

Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday described himself as an "Adhunik (modern) Abhimanyu" who knows how to break the 'Chakravyuh' - a complex situation with enemies all around -- as the BJP-led ruling Mayayuti alliance secured a landslide victory in Maharashtra elections.
Fadnavis downplayed his own role in the victory, emphasizing the team's efforts. "I had said earlier that I am an 'Aadhunik Abhimanyu' and know how to break the 'Chakravyuh'... My contribution to this victory is small, it is the victory of our team," he told reporters.
Fadnavis also credited the people of Maharashtra for the Mahayuti's "unprecedented victory" and assured there would be no conflict over the choice of Chief Minister.
"The people of Maharashtra have given us an unprecedented victory, showing their support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In line with his slogan 'ek hain toh safe hain,' people from all sections and communities voted for us unitedly," he said.
"This is the victory of Mahayuti, CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, and Ramdas Athawale. It is a victory of unity," he added.
