'Photo Ops In Jhuggis, Focus On Jacuzzi...': PM Modi's Scathing Attack At Opposition In Parliament

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday responded to the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address in the Lok Sabha, marking his 14th opportunity to do so. Without naming anyone, he took a swipe at Opposition, stating, "Those who have photo sessions in the huts of the poor, for their own entertainment, will find the mention of the poor in Parliament boring."

Modi launched a scathing attack at rival parties, he said, "some political leaders focus on Jacuzzis and stylish showers" while his government prioritizes providing basic amenities."Our government gave tap water to 12 crore families," The Prime Minister said that government schemes saved lot of money, but we did not use it to build 'Sheesh Mahal'.

The Prime Minister then shifted focus to the Congress, taking aim at its longstanding 'Garibi Hatao' slogan. His remarks came a day after Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp critique of the BJP-led government over the India-China border dispute and struggles in the manufacturing sector. Modi added that, "Pain of poor, troubles of common man, cannot be understood just like that; it requires passion, some just don't have it."

Commending the welfare works done during his government's tenure, PM said in parliament, "Till now the poor have been given 4 crore houses...Those who have lived difficult lives only understand that what is the value of getting a house...The women in the past suffered a lot due to the lack of a toilet system...Those who have these facilities cannot understand."
