New Delhi: In a major development, BJP has written to Election Commission of India to deploy lady police officials at booths in 6th and 7th phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections to check voter ID of burqa-clad women.
BJP says proper checking of IDs is important to avoid bogus voting.
In letter to EC, BJP also asked for deployment of Paramilitary forces at polling booths in sensitive areas for VI & VII phase of UP elections.
In Uttar Pradesh, which has a 403-member House, 6th and 7th phase of polls will be held on March 3 (49 seats) and March 8 (40 seats).
The results of UP polls will be out on 11th March.
