PM Narendra Modi likely to induct Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sarbananda Sonowal, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal in Union Cabinet reshuffle

The Cabinet expansion, the first in the second term of PM Narendra Modi-led NDA government is expected to take place on Wednesday evening.

 

Among those who are likely to be inducted in the new cabinet expansion, according to the sources, are Jyotiraditya Scindia, who left the Congress in 2020 ahead of regime change in Madhya Pradesh, and Sarbananda Sonowal, who was replaced by Himanta Biswa Sarma as Assam Chief Minister.

 

The other top contenders in the fray for a ministerial berth include the Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Bharatiya Janata Party's National General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav.

 

The expansion may also witness a major representation from Uttar Pradesh, which is going to have assembly elections in 2022.

 

The names of Apna Dal's Anupriya Patel, BJP's Varun Gandhi and Ramshankar Katheria can also be considered for the ministerial posts in the Modi cabinet.

 

Uttar Pradesh politicians Anil Jain, Rita Bahuguna Joshi and Syed Zafar Islam can also be given ministerial responsibilities.

 

Former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi and new Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Pashupati Kumar Paras may also be included in the cabinet expansion. Besides them, Janata Dal (United)'s RCP Singh and Lalan Singh can also get a Union Ministry portfolio.

 

Maharashtra leaders Narayan Rane and Heena Gavit, West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma and Odisha's Ashwini Vaishnaw can also receive a ministerial berth.
