Pak terrorists getting ready to enter India, says Army

Srinagar: Dozens of Pakistani terrorists are waiting to enter India from different areas along the border in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army said on Monday.

Intelligence reports suggest Pakistani terrorists have stepped up infiltration bids over the past few months even as the Indian security forces have increased their vigil all along the Line of Control (LoC).

GOC 19 Division Major General RP Kalita said on Monday that 60 to 70 terrorists are waiting to cross over to India from different 'launch pads' across the LoC.

He said the army is on alert, particularly along the stretch from Baramulla, Gulmarg to Naugam, as the terrorists are 'ready' to enter through this area.

Earlier in the day, the army foiled a major infiltration bid in the Tangdhar sector of the state.

"An infiltration bid was foiled today by alert soldiers along the LoC in Tangdhar sector in north Kashmir," an Army official said.

He said the soldiers noticed some suspicious movement near the LoC and challenged the suspects.

"An exchange of fire took place between the sides," he said, adding that a search operation was launched soon after the gunfire stopped.
