Ranchi: Around 300 tribals equipped with traditional weapons, protested amendments in the two land acts on Friday by tearing banners and posters at the BJP state headquarters in Harmu locality here.
Posters of Chief Minister Raghubar Das were brutally torn. They also attacked the pandal put up at Harmu ground to celebrate Modifest, besides damaging the Modi and BHIM app centres.
"We will continue our agitation till the BJP government in Jharkhand does not withdraw the amendments in the two land acts," said one of the protesters.
The state government has made amendments in the Chotanagpur Tenancy Act and the Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act facilitating the use of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes.
Friday also marks the birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda.
"The poster of Birsa Munda has also been damaged. It`s unfortunate that the banners and posters put on the BJP headquarters have been damaged," said Civil Aviation Minister Jayant Sinha.
