Kannur: A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker was attacked on Tuesday by a group of unidentified men at Kathiroor in Kerala's Kannur district.

RSS Ponnyam Mandal Karyavah Praveen was attacked by a gang wearing masks when he was riding a bike.

The RSS worker was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition in Kozhikode, ANI reported. He's currently undergoing treatment.

Last month, four RSS workers were attacked in Kerala's Kannur district, as per reports.

In October, a RSS activist was injured, while bombs were hurled at a BJP party office.

In November 2017, a RSS worker was killed in Thrissur in Kerala. The 23-year-old victim identified as Anandan was riding a motorcycle when he was attacked by men who were in a car.

He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Anandan, hailing from Brahmakulam, was an accused in a case related to the murder of a CPI(M) worker in 2013.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been accusing the Left government in Kerala of political killings. They had also held a rally 'jan raksha yatra' in Thiruvananthapuram recently to protest against alleged political killings in the state.

The CPI(M) has, in turn, has accused BJP and RSS of resorting to violence and denied the involvement of its government and leadership in political killings.
