Markets end in red after knee-jerk reaction to air strike on militant camps in Pakistan

New Delhi: Markets ended in red Tuesday amid rising tension between India and Pakistan, after the Indian Air Force (IAF) struck terrorist camps in Pakistan.
The BSE Sensex fell 239.67 points or 0.66 percent to 35,973.71 while the NSE Nifty dropped 44.80 points or 0.41 percent to 10,835.30.
The development comes amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan after the February 14 suicide attack by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group that killed 40 CRPF soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.
The 30-share index cracked nearly 500 points in the day. It hit a low of 35,714.16 and a high of 36,172.52. The Nifty hovering between 10,729.30 and 10,888.75.
Meanwhile, DIIs sold shares worth Rs 1,764.4 crore, while foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net of Rs 2,134.35 crore on Monday, provisional data showed.
