Nitish Kumar, Lalu Yadav seek probe into Bhopal jailbreak, SIMI terrorists' encounter

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday favoured an independent probe into the Bhopal jail break by SIMI activists and their subsequent killing by the police for "clarity" on what had happened.

"Some striking pictures have emerged on the event and hence there is a need for clarity on the event," Kumar told reporters here.
He said he knew his Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan and expressed confidence that his government would explain "the entire event with clarity."

"All (8 SIMI inmates) fled together and joined later on and the video shot on encounter also creates doubt in the minds of people," he said and advised the MP government to go for an independent probe into the episode.

He said he was not in favour of a probe conducted by a central agency which was under control of the ruling party at the Centre and suggested one by an independent agency.

RJD President Lalu Prasad has also demanded a high-level probe into the incident.

"Why BJP is not getting the event probed?...BJP is known for 'dhong' (pretence) in the name of nationalism," the RJD chief said.
