Special CBI court acquits Amit Jogi, others in Judeo tape case

New Delhi: Ex-Congress MLA from Chhattisgarh Amit Jogi and others were on Monday acquitted by a special CBI court here in connection with the Judeo tape case.

Congress had earlier expelled Jogi for six years from the party.

Reacting to the verdict, Jogi said, “The truth is out, and I have finally got justice.”

The purported tape suggested that financial inducements could have been offered to make the Congress candidate pull out of the 2014 Antagarh bypoll, ensuring a walkover for the BJP candidate.

The tape had created a political controversy leading to the resignation of Dilip Singh Judeo from the Union Council of Ministers.

While expelling Jogi, Chhattisgarh Congress had also passed a resolution seeking similar action against his father, former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi.

The CBI had on December 21 registered a regular case against Judeo, his additional personal secretary Natwar Rateria and Bhupender Singh Patel who had allegedly given a bribe of Rs 9 lakh to the minister and Anand Vijay Mohan (the person who allegedly shot the video).
