Delhi odd-even formula: Kejriwal govt to install censor cameras, launch 'Poochh-O app'

New Delhi: In order to put a tab on the defaulters, Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said on Friday that censor cameras to be put across the national capital to map vehicular traffic between January 1-15 next year after the implementation of odd-even system for cars and other vehicle during this period of time.

However, the Delhi government also assured that it will launch an application for the convenience of commuters.

“Censor cameras to be put across Delhi to map vehicular traffic between January 1-15,” AAP’s Gopal Rai said.

He further said, “Poochh-O app to be launched on December 22.”

Meanwhile, in an additional task for the Delhi Transport Corporation, the AAP government today declared cancellation of all their leaves.

“All leaves of Delhi Transport Corporation staff to be cancelled from January 1-15,” AAP’s Gopal Rai said, as per ANI.

Delhi government, earlier, also decided to shut down schools for fifteen days in January next year.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had said that children are most affected due to rising pollution and government will make a policy of odd-even formula with their involvement.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, last week, held a high-level meeting with all his cabinet ministers, concerned departments and agencies to make a strategy for implementing the odd-even scheme.

The Delhi government submitted to the apex court an action plan on steps being taken to improve air quality. It maintained that the issue of diesel vehicles could be successfully tackled if the registration of all diesel vehicles was banned by all neighbouring states as well.

Based on the experience of the odd-even vehicles plan to be implemented from January 1 to January 15 in the national capital, a further decision in this regard would be taken, a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office said.

"To allow either odd or even number vehicles on alternate days from January 2016, and closing down of coal-based Rajghat and Badarpur power stations are main points of the action plan," it said.

The Delhi government will also make an appeal to the National Green Tribunal to close down Dadri Power Plant, which is a major source of pollution for Delhi.

Delhi's air quality is once again in the category of 'very poor' and is likely to stay that way over the weekend amidst a spike in pollutants after an almost week-long moderate phase when a steady fall was observed in the average levels of suspended particulate matters.
