Udta Punjab row: Delhi CM Kejriwal slams CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday slammed censor board chief Pahlaj Nihalani for suggesting at least 89 cuts in the upcoming Bollywood film 'Udta Punjab'.

"Pahlaj Nihalani's statement linking co-producer Anurag Kashyap with the Aam Aadmi Party makes it amply clear he has stopped the film on BJP's instructions," Kejriwal tweeted.

Nihalani earlier alleged that he had heard that Kashyap had taken money from AAP to show Punjab in bad light through 'Udta Punjab' and said this was the talk in the film industry.

As per reports, the board has asked the filmmakers for a whopping 89 cuts in the movie and suggested that any reference to Punjab be removed from the movie.

The Central Board for Film Certification also wants words like 'Punjab, election, MP, MLA, as well as close-up shots of drugs being injected' be removed from the movie. The censor board also asked the makers to run a disclaimer reading 'Govt is trying to control drug menace in the state'.

A furious Kashyap then called Nihalani, who heads the Central Board of Film Certification, an 'oligarch' -- prompting Nihalani`s counter.
