Major fire breaks out in Delhi's Shahdara; 3 killed

Three persons were killed in the fire and are yet to be identified.

New Delhi: A major fire broke out in a house in northeast Delhi's Shahdara area on Wednesday.

Three persons were charred to death and 10 others injured in the mishap.

A call was received at 5:06 am about fire breaking out in the parking area of a house. The fire spread through the four-storeyed building, said a senior official from Delhi fire services.

Five fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control by 6:30 am, the official said.

"The four-storey building in Shahdara caught fire due to an electric fault as a few battery-rickshaw drivers were charging their vehicles on the ground floor," a police official told news agency IANS

"The building housed four families, all relatives, and a tenant family," he said, adding the identities of the victims were yet to be verified.

Three persons were killed in the fire and are yet to be identified.

The 10 injured people are currently undergoing treatment at GTB Hospital.
