Dalit boy's death: AAP slams Haryana CM for 'suicide' remark

The AAP on Saturday flayed Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for terming the death of a 15-year- old Dalit boy in Haryana a case of "suicide" and also alleged that police had "managed" the medical board that gave the post-mortem report.

New Delhi: The AAP on Saturday flayed Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for terming the death of a 15-year- old Dalit boy in Haryana a case of "suicide" and also alleged that police had "managed" the medical board that gave the post-mortem report.

The party also said it will hold a "peace march" at Jantar Mantar here to raise the issue of rising instances of atrocities being committed in the country.

"Khattar's comments are really very unfortunate. Our fact-finding team of MLAs found that when the boy's body was discovered near his house, it had strangulation marks on the neck and his nails had been pulled out."

"When we spoke to his mother, it was also revealed that police had asked for Rs 5,000 from her for the release of the boy," said Rajendra Gautam, AAP's Seemapuri MLA.

Gautam, along with Rakhi Birla (Mangolpuri), Prakash Jarwal (Deoli) and Manoj Kumar (Kondli) was part of an AAP MLAs' team which yesterday visited the family of the deceased boy.

Lashing out at Khattar, AAP's Delhi unit secretary, Greater Kailash MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj, said the case had already been "prejudiced" as the chief minister has given a "verdict" calling it a suicide.

Birla, meanwhile, said AAP will hold a "peace march" at Jantar Mantar here to raise the issue of growing atrocities in the country. She said the party would also approach the National Commission for Schedule Castes (NCSC) over this matter.
