China told it cannot have double standards on terrorism: V K Singh

"We've conveyed to China in very clear terms that you (China) cannot have two standards on terrorism,” Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh.

Kolkata: India has conveyed to China that it could not have double standards on terrorism after Beijing blocked the listing, at the UN, of Jaish-e-Muhammad chief Masood Azhar as an international terrorist, said Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh on Saturday.

"We`ve conveyed to China in very clear terms that you (China) cannot have two standards on terrorism.

"You (China) cannot say you do not accept terrorism and are against it, at the same time, you support a leader of a terrorist outfit," Gen. Singh (retd.) said on the sidelines of a seminar on "India-China Relations - The Future?" organised by the Research Centre for East and North East Regional Studies, Kolkata.

"It has been conveyed in the many forums, including our external affairs minister (Sushma Swaraj) conveying it to China," he said.

China had blocked India`s bid to add Azhar`s name to the UN Security Council blacklist of groups linked to Al Qaeda or Islamic State.
