Dig at filmmaker Anurag Kashyap? People question PM Modi without any logic to get into news, says Union Minister Kiren Rijiju

Delhi: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Monday said that people were questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi just to be in the news.

He tweeted, "A new fashion has developed in India. A student or a film person can put a question or speak against PM without any logic to get into news."

Rijiju's reaction comes a day after filmmaker Anurag Kashyap had courted controversy by attacking PM Modi while extending his support to Karan Johar.

However, later talking to the media the minister said when asked about Kashyap​, "Don't want to comment and give undue imp to such undesirable tweets which are no good to the country."

Marking the PM, Kashyap had posted the following on Twitter - "Sir you haven't yet said sorry for your trip to meet the Pakistani PM. It was December 25th. Same time KJo was shooting ADHM? Why? Why is it that we have to face it while you can be silent?"

Further he had tweeted to PM Modi - "You actually diverted your trip on our tax money, while the film shot then was on money on which someone here pays interest. I am just trying to understand the situation because I am actually dumb and I don't get it. Sorry if you feel offended. By the way Bharat Mata ki Jai sir."

Johar's film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has run into rough weather for featuring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.

Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) has announced that no films with Pakistani actors will be screened in Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Karnataka in the aftermath of Uri attack on an Indian Army camp.

The film also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai andAnushka Sharma

Facing flak for his remarks, Kashyap later tweeted that he was complaining because he had the right to question the PM and seek protection for the 'vulnerable' film industry even as he lashed out at 'fanatics' who stop others from having a conversation with the PM.

"Just to make it clear, I complain because I expect my government to protect us, I question the PM because I have every right to.. I am not going to address a party that has become redundant and irrelevant and is trying to find relevance again by using the film industry," the director had written, apparently taking a dig at the MNS, which has been campaigning against Pakistani artistes.
