New Delhi: Congress leader Pramod Tiwari on Friday said that his party will continue to raise their voice in the Parliament against political vendetta over the National Herald case saying that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had extended them the same courtesy during the UPA regime.
"We have no option but to raise our voice against political vendetta as the Parliament is a law making forum," Tiwari told ANI here.
"I don`t know if the Prime Minister was referring to this disruption of Parliament or the disruption which his party created two years back. This disruption has been going on since three to four days, but his party disrupted the house for three to four months. So, I think if this formula applies here then this formula applies there also," he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday described the repeated disruptions in Parliament as a "matter of sorrow" after Congress MPs paralysed both Houses with noisy protests, alleging politics of vengeance by the BJP-led government over the National Herald case.
The Prime Minister was visibly upset with the opposition party`s unrelenting protests after a Delhi court asked Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to appear before it on December 19 over BJP leader Subramanian Swamy`s lawsuit accusing them of financial misappropriation in taking control of the defunct National Herald newspaper.
"Democracy cannot function at the whims and fancies of anyone," the Prime Minister said.
Repeated adjournments of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have stymied the government`s efforts to push key reforms, especially the goods and services tax bill, in the ongoing winter session.
