Pathankot attack: Arms, ammunition smuggled in advance by some insider?

New Delhi: With investigation into the deadly attack on Pathankot Air Force base advancing, a fact has come to light that arms and ammunitions used by the attackers were smuggled much before the encounter began at 3.30 am on January 2.

According to a report in the Times of India, investigators are probing the angle of some insider's role in view of the heavy arms and explosives used by the terrorists during the attack.

For the group of militants, which carried out the attack on Pathankot Air Force base, it would not have been possible to cross the international border, hijack vehicles, jump a 10-feet high boundary wall around the airbase while carrying so all arms and ammunition.

The point that the attackers were heavily armed can be made out from the fact that it took almost three days for the security forces to sanitise the area even after the attackers were gunned down in just few hours.

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to grill Gurdaspur Superintendent of Police (SP) Salwinder Singh today, who was abducted by suspected Pakistani terrorists who later attacked the Pathankot air base.

Last week, an NIA team took Singh to the place near Kolian village from where he was allegedly abducted in his car along with two others.

The NIA team also took the officer to the place where he was dumped by the terrorists and at the spot where his car was found abandoned.
