Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit the United States on 7 and 8 June this year, as per a media report.
As per a report in First Post, a bipartisan group of four top American lawmakers said so on Wednesday and asked the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Paul Ryan, to invite him for a joint meeting of the Congress.
"Given the depth of our relationship with India across a range of areas — defence, humanitarian and disaster relief, space cooperation, conservation, and innovation, — we believe this is an ideal opportunity for the Congress to hear directly from the Prime Minister," Congressmen Ed Royce, Eliot Engel, George Holding and Ami Bera said in a letter to Ryan, as per the website.
Royce is chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Holding and Bera are co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans.
If PM Modi does go to the US, then it will his first bilateral state visit.
He went to the US to attend the UN General Assembly in 2014.
He then visited the Silicon Valley in 2015.
Then came the Nuclear Security Summit earlier this year.
But there was no official announcement from the PMO or the White House about the same.
