New Delhi: BJP Delhi unit President Manoj Tiwari on Thursday accused Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of indulging in a major scam.
According to BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, "AAP is using the Delhi Transport Corporation to exchange Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes."
"This is the first established post demonetisation scam," Manoj Tiwari alleged.
The allegation from BJP came after the DTC deposited Rs 3 crore revenue, most of it in demonetised notes.
"It is beyond comprehension that how so many high denomination notes can surface at the DTC which sells tickets of Rs 5 and 10," Tiwari said.
Tiwari said that his party had raised this issue with the Lt. Governor of Delhi on November 21 and later wrote to the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB).
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that the Delhi government had itself handed over the case to the ACB, which falls under the BJP-led central government.
In a surprise announcement on Nov 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that starting November 9, all Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes would no longer be legal tender.
