Varanasi: A group of students travelling in a train near Varanasi would have never imagined that the railway minister will himself jump into action and ensure food for them in the moving train.
The incident took place on Monday night near Varanasi when the train, in which this group of school kids was travelling, was delayed due to fog and poor visibility.
According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, the students from ACN School in Dehradun, mostly from Bihar and West Bengal, were going to their homes for winter vacation.
The Kumbh Express, travelling from Haridwar to Howrah, did not had a pantry car and it was then that the hungry kids conceived the idea to seek Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu's help via twitter.
Minutes after the tweet, the railway minister directed officials to act and in just a matter of time the students were served with food, water and coffee on their train seats.
Amit Kumar, a teacher, who was also travelling the students said he was happy that a swift action was taken to help these children.
"India is changing. I think if officials and ministers start acting like this on every complaint then people will be very happy," said Amit Kumar.
Local Chief Area Manager Ravi Prakash Chaturvedi told that he was directed by his senior officials to help these students.
"The train was at Bhadohi station at around 10 pm when I received information from the railway board. I was asked to help these kids. Students had to face trouble as there was no pantry car in the train," said Chaturvedi.
