Dialgam: As restrictions continue in Kashmir Valley in the aftermath of Burhan Wani's encounter and the recent terror attacks in Uri, the Indian Army has now decided to blend its Operation 'Calm Down' with 'Jadoo ki Jhappi' to soothe tension in the area and build confidence among the local residents to open up their establishments which have remained shut for nearly three months.
According to a report in ToI, Colonel Dharmendra Yadav, who is the in-charge of the most sensitive Anantnag district, forays into the interiors of South Kashmir and interacts with locals, especially their children.
Col Yadav does this regularly by taking a round in his jeep of his 'Area of Responsibility' or popularly known as AOR.
Importantly, Col Yadav and his team are getting a good response from the locals. Where ever they go, they are welcomed by the villagers and children while passing through.
"No doubt they have restored some law and order in many areas of the district," Ghulam Mohiudden, a teacher, was quoted as saying.
Mohiudden, was encouraged by the army personnel to teach children in a makeshift school so that their education is not affected any further.
Another highlight of Col Yadav's confidence building initiative is 'Jadoo Ki Jhapi' - an affectionate hug – with which he is often welcomed by the village elders.
Interestingly, Col Yadav was part of a team of young Army officers who were involved in the encounter in Bumdoora village in which Burhan Wani and his two aides were killed.
However, he refrains from sharing any details of the encounter, saying, "This was part of my duty and we don't share operational details. The matter is over and out for me and my team."
