Srinagar: Political parties across the spectrum on Thursday slammed Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for her remarks that had she known about militant Burhan Wani's whereabouts the outcome would have been different.
The chief minister claimed that she was not aware of Burhan's whereabouts, and the army and the police too did not know about him.
She hinted that the security forces may have spared him if they knew Burhan was the target of the raid.
Immediately, strong reactions have poured in from political parties.
Reacting to her statement, BJP's Heena Bhat said, “When police goes for such an encounter, they don't know what type of terrorist they are.
“A militant's bio-data is not needed to carry out the operation.”
BJP MLA Ravinder Rana said, “Police asked Burhan Wani on loudspeaker to surrender.”
Slamming her comments, the National Conference said, “Mehbooba should own up responsibility.”
