Tension prevailed in a part of Jammu and Kashmir's winter capital on Tuesday after some Hindu youth beat up two Muslim youth on allegations of vandalising a local temple and triggered further violence, police said.

Jammu: Tension prevailed in a part of Jammu and Kashmir's winter capital on Tuesday after some Hindu youth beat up two Muslim youth on allegations of vandalising a local temple and triggered further violence, police said.
"Local Hindu youths beat two youths of the other community whom they blamed for smashing the window panes and doors of a local temple in Janipur area.
"After the news spread in the area, an angry mob torched a school vehicle and has now surrounded the local police station," a senior police official told IANS.
"Senior police officers have reached the spot to bring the situation under control and prevent any flaring up of the trouble by anti-social elements," the officer added.
