Thiruvananthapuram: Sindhu Sooryakumar, an anchor of a Malayalam TV news show, on Monday clarified on a Facebook post, after she received more than 2,500 calls after she moderated a discussion on Friday night on whether celebrating Mahishasur Jayanti could be considered an act of treason.
The Asianet's chief coordinating editor and anchor had moderated a debate on her programme News Hour on February 26.
Talking to IANS, Sindhu Sooryakumar said she had received more than 2,500 calls, abusing and threatening her. She has been accused of using words to describe Hindu gooddess Durga which she insists she never used.
"I am yet to figure out what wrong I did. I never, ever mentioned a word on Durga Devi. Now I feel I am being targeted with some motive," she said.
"Although I am not scared, it's a nuisance. Even today numerous calls came from various parts of the country and abroad. Now I answer only calls that are from people known to me," the Asianet TV anchor added.
Sindhu has now written a Facebook post, explaining it was the guest BJP State Secretary VV Rajesh who had read out the pamphlet.
This is what she wrote:

Sindhu Suryakumar said she had been told that five people had been arrested and more arrests would take place.
Police have said that all the people who had been arrested were linked to various Hindutva groups.
The anchor told IANS: "What I want the police to find out is the brain behind this organised hounding. If not, how can this happen even after the police registering a case and arrests were made?"
