Bhopal: Girl students of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology here on Friday protested against the administration's order on dress code and hostel timings.

Several girls took out a march against the institute's diktat.

Speaking to the media one of the girl students said, “We attend our college from 9 am-5 pm, then we go for out coaching classes. The coaching classes end late and if we don't return to the college by 9:30 pm, we are not allowed by the authorities to go our hostel rooms and instead are forced to sleep in lobby area.”

The girl named Harsha further said the same rule doesn't apply on the boys.

Another protesting student Shivangi said, “We should be allowed to wear dresses in which we feel comfortable, it is 21st century.”

Another reason for the unrest was the college's Taliban-style order of barring the girl students from wearing miniskirts and shorts in the campus.

The students dressed in shorts had staged a dharna on Thursday challenging the authorities to take action against them.
