Punjab DGP reviews security situation in border districts
Punjab DGP (Law and Order) Hardip Singh Dhillon on Wednesday reviewed security situation in the border districts of Pathankot, Gurdaspur and Amritsar in the backdrop of the Uri terror attack.

Chandigarh: Punjab DGP (Law and Order) Hardip Singh Dhillon on Wednesday reviewed security situation in the border districts of Pathankot, Gurdaspur and Amritsar in the backdrop of the Uri terror attack.
"Yesterday, I went to Gurdaspur and Pathankot. Today I went to Amritsar," Dhillon said, adding he had already visited Batala, Tarn Taran.
The DGP said, "The Punjab government had already earmarked Rs 45 crore for procuring modern equipment, including anti-land mine and bullet proof vehicles, UAVs, thermal image sensors to meet any sort of eventuality."
"Some of the equipment have already been procured and some are under procurement," he said.
Meanwhile, Pathankot SSP Rakesh Kaushal said the DGP met policemen, including chowki in-charges and police line staff, and stressed on night patrolling and vehicle checking, especially in the border areas.
"DGP asked policemen to be prepared to thwart any terror attack," Kaushal said.
In a presentation, the DGP was apprised about activities of the forces and the challenges they faced.
The DGP was told police need to be equipped with more weapons, including AK-47s, gadgets and bullet-proof jackets.
