A farmer in Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur district was mercilessly beaten up by some police officials and bank loan recovery agents, footage of which has gone viral on social media.

Chennai: A farmer in Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur district was mercilessly beaten up by some police officials and bank loan recovery agents, footage of which has gone viral on social media.
In the video, farmer is seen dragged and thrashed by police officials while he is making efforts to release himself.
The National Human Rights Commission has now issued notice to the chief secretary and DGP of the Tamil Nadu state.
“NHRC takes serious view of reported brutal assault on an indebted farmer by bank officials and police in Tamil Nadu,” NHRC was quoted as saying by ANI.
